Building Working Relationships course, Moatize, Mozambique
September 2010A customized two-day skills enhancement course, Building Working Relationships,was conducted at the Moatize Coal Project in Tete province, north-western Mozambique August 25 & 25, 2010. In order to minimize disruption to the project the workshop was held on-site.

In interview format Bouke Kooiker, Project Manager, set the agenda for the workshop and outlined the major issues that needed to be addressed. The themes explored were:
- The communications challenges being faced;
- Managerial communications (focusing on cultural aspects and overcoming communications barriers);
- Stakeholder responsibilities;
- Working in teams;
- Motivating people and resolving conflict; and
- Negotiating so everyone wins.
The workshop process ensures that live issues are addressed within small teams so that different people’s expertise and perspectives can be applied to solving problems. The sessions were facilitated by Eric Sandelands of Corporate Learning Consultants Ltd.
