WIAL presents Focussed Paper at the 1st International Congress of Coaching Psychology, London
10th December 2010Dr Eric Sandelands (Director, Corporate Learning Consultants Ltd.) co-presented three linked papers on Action Learning and Team Coaching along with Dr Arthur Freedman (Director, WIAL) and Dr Skipton Leonard (Executive Director, WIAL) at the 1st International Congress of Coaching Psychology at the City University London.
The 2-day conference is the first in a series of congress events organised by the Special Group of Coaching Psychology (SGCP) and included participants from ten different countries including UK, Ireland, Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, Sweden, USA, Denmark, Israel, Spain and Switzerland. The Event consisted of various Skills workshops and Masterclasses where practitioners, academics and researchers presented their findings from research and practice.

Dr Arthur Freedman started the session by presenting the evolution of team coaching methods. The paper traced the innovation in team development processes that have transformed team-building intervention into powerful team coaching methods such as Action Learning.

It was followed by Dr Eric Sandelands speaking on a disciplined approach to team coaching using Action Learning. The main focus of the presentation was on how Action Learning was introduced invented in the UK by Reg Revans, then re-imported from America back into the country and the 6 elements of the disciplined model of Action Learning.
Dr Skipton Leonard concluded the session by presenting the evidence of Action Learning as a team coaching intervention. The paper drew upon results from 21 different articles, thesis and dissertations, quantitavely and qualitatively measured the impacts of Action Learning on team coaching.
