Graduate skills development in Al-Khobar

Two interactive workshops were held in Kentz Al-Khobar office in Saudi Arabia to develop graduates and other high potential people. The workshops were:

  • Communication Skills, December 11 & 12, 2011; and
  • Management Skills Level 1, December 13 & 14, 2011.

The courses form part of the Graduate Development Programme, with Communication Skills also open to others from across the business. The programme is an ongoing major ongoing initiative to develop young talent globally across Kentz Group.

The Communication Skills group

Ross O’Muirthile, Kentz Country Manager for Saudi Arabia provided a senior management perspective on communications in country and communicating with global stakeholders. Ross stressed the benefits of the action learning process in developing teams and solving problems. Themes developed in workshop included communications challenges, managerial communications, the interpersonal aspects of communicating and the barriers faced, including cultural barriers.

Management Skills Level 1 group

In his presentation and Q&A, Michael Pyers (Regional HR Manager) stressed the opportunities to gain experience and develop a career within Kentz and the impact of the global village on working life. Among the major topics covered were: becoming a new manager: learning styles; supervising people; working relationships and managing stakeholders; and conflict and complex expectations.
