Global Teams Commence Emerald Corporate Academy, UK

13th March 2010

The first action learning set of Emerald Group Publishing Ltd. (EGPL) corporate academy commenced on January 11th, 2010 when delegates from around the world were able to outline their proposed projects to CEO John Peters at the group’s headquarters in Bingley, West Yorkshire, UK.

For the first time participants are arranged in global teams reflecting Emerald’s increasing international presence. Participants are based in the UK, Beijing, Boston, Dallas, Dubai and Kuala Lumpur. Each team addresses a live company project and has international membership. A company senior executive – the corporate client for the project – provides strategic advice and support.

For two of the sessions, the first and last, participants congregate at company headquarters in the UK. For the other workshops a combination of meeting room and live video conferencing are used, with presenters alternating between the UK and global offices.

The projects being addressed relate to: brand positioning; social networking; guides to getting published; working globally; and the impact of developing technologies.
