Second in-company MBA set commence in Dubai
30th September 2007September 21 – 24, 2007 saw the commencement of the second Kentz in-company, action learning MBA set with International Management Centres. The first workshop, held at the Metropolitan Hotel in Dubai focused on knowledge management, international business and the research process.

Pictured above (left to right) are: Donal O’Neill (Group HR Manager), Peter Ross, Dr Eric Sandelands (Set Adviser), Joe Cassin, Cyril Leahy, Dr Matthew Hind (IMCA), Madhu Pillai, David Hallighan and Hari Govind.
A key requirement of the action learning MBA is that research must focus on issues that bring value to Kentz business. This makes the learning more meaningful and workplace applied. The proposed topics for each associate are:
- Joe Cassin – Improving decision making processes (a project controls perspective);
- Hari Govind – Effective implementation of EPC systems;
- David Hallighan – Generating business in Ireland;
- Cyril Leahy – Is a safe project a better project in all aspects?
- Madhu Pillai – Understanding and developing Kentz value chain; and
- Peter Ross – Handling the start-up of new ventures.
Each will work with a senior manager who will act as their corporate sponsor and seek to involve those in the business with responsibilities in these areas in their research. A buddy system is additionally in place in order that those who already have MBAs, or are further on in completing their programme, can give advice and support.
An MBA community has been set up online within the Kentz InTouch system in order that both in-company action learning sets, together with Kentz managers doing external MBAs can collaborate and work towards ensuring good outcomes for all.
