Capacity Building

CLC views capacity building as a people-centred approach to ensuring organizational effectiveness for the medium-to-long-term. That is not to say that the return on investment has to be slow. Many of our project-based learning approaches bring a quick payback, while developing the individual for future progression into more senior roles.

Capacity building learning and development is an investment in building the bench strength of an organization. It builds on identified needs to develop a certain skill or competence, or for general upgrading of performance ability.

In practice it may mean:

  • Developing leaders at all levels;
  • Ensuring succession and a talent pipeline;
  • Positioning the company as a preferred employer;
  • Developing coaches, mentors and action learning facilitators; or
  • Addressing specific skills gaps and developing competences.

Capacity Building

Globally there is also a need to develop more engineers. Engineers play a primary role in sustaining the company’s competitiveness by developing the ability to think logically and solve problems more quickly. A lack of qualified engineers can have a significant drag effect on corporate growth.

Working with Teesside University, and accredited by Edexcel, CLC offers a range of Higher National Certificate (HNC) programmes, with routes for future academic progression. These are delivered on a modular basis, in-company, or remotely supported online. HNCs are available in:

  • Electrical & Electronic Engineering;
  • Mechanical Engineering;
  • Instrumentation & Control Engineering; and
  • Chemical Engineering.
