Stephen has over 25years consulting experience working with clients across a range of sectors on strategic change, leadership and performance improvement projects.  As an organisation development specialist he brings a focus on business outcomes, a strong background in applied psychology and experience of working on both strategy and nitty-gritty operations. He has combined leadership development and service/quality improvement over many years through experiential, action learning and appreciative inquiry approaches.

Stephen has worked with large consulting firms such as PA Consulting Group, Deloitte and Logica IT Services and has a very strong and pragmatic grasp of the human and systemic implications of technology and operating model design and change, service design and improvement, complex transitions and transformation. He has developed leadership facilitators in support of change, service/quality improvement and management development programmes.

He brings rich experience from both private and public sector over many years

  • Leading organisation/people design for major change programmes including Lloyds TSB and Lloyds Banking Group, local government (a number of authorities), Medical Research Council, BUPA Global Finance, SIG Combibloc (global carton manufacturers), Aon Reinsurance
  • Designing and facilitating many top team and extended leadership processes,  ‘away days’ and events on strategy implementation and change – global construction company (current), a global health appliances manufacturer (Finance Directors), local authorities, Benefits Agency, Inland Revenue, Prudential, Logica, BUPA, Deutsche Bank, Cadbury Schweppes,
  • Designing and facilitating change, leadership development (Top 100+) and quality improvement programmes in Cadbury Schweppes (Executive Communicating for Growth programme, European Beverages), a university, Ernst & Young and local and central government organisations including LB Newham (Top 180 Leaders), LB Hackney (including 3 years of Quality Leaders programme), LB Havering (Service Improvement Programme),  Benefits Agency (Quality, leadership, Change over 8 years), Nuffield Hospitals (Customer Service Improvement), RICS (Project Leadership), Inland Revenue (Managing Change),
  • Using ‘Big Pictures’ and high engagement processes with executive teams to articulate strategy, coaching its members to communicate it to its extended leadership, then creating a programme of employee engagement through dialogue sessions  - Aon, Barclays, Premier Farnell, Cadbury Schweppes
  • Developing communication and engagement strategies – including Deutsche Bank (Corporate Investment), Welsh Assembly, NHS Trusts
  • Designing and leading large group team building events including West Coast Rail Programme – £5b rail renewal – for 500 core project team members and contractors); for each regional organisations of the Healthcare Commission

Stephen is currently working with 2 charities on transition and growth issues.

Qualifications and accreditations
Stephen holds a BA Hons Oxon in experimental psychology, and an MA in Applied Social Studies from Warwick University. He is a Certified Management Consultant (CMC). He completed both the Advanced Course in Consulting to Individuals and Organisations at the Tavistock Clinic, and the Institute of Group Analysis Foundation Year training.
